Prayer of Confession

As we progress through our process of restoration, it is important that we admit or confess our weaknesses or shortcomings. It is in our weakness that God's strength is made perfect. We only have victory through Jesus Christ. We have adopted a Restoration Confession that encompasses these beliefs. We ask that you repeat this confession daily (or more frequently as needed):

"Father, in the name of Jesus, I come to you now, thanking you that I am no longer living a life that is without control. I thank you that you are making my life manageable and that nothing is impossible through you. I am asking you now to help me apply the Word to my life and that you help me to escape every temptation that the devil ties to throw at me. I pray this prayer in the name of your son Jesus. "

The confession above is similar to the confession used by Alcoholics Anonymous and our confession is one of the first symbolic steps to triuimph over your struggle. The confession is based on the principles listed below.

    1. I admit that I am powerless over__________ and that my life has become unmanageable.
    2. I have come to believe that only a Power greater than me can restore my sanity.
    3. I am making a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God as I understood Him.
    4. I am making a searching and fearless moral inventory of myself.
    5. I am admitting to God, to myself and to another human being the exact nature of my wrongs.
    6. I am entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
    7. I humbly asked Him to remove my shortcomings.
    8. I am making a list of all persons I harmed, and am willing to make amends to them all.
    9. I will make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
    10. I am continuing to take personal inventory and admitting where I was wrong..
    11. I am seeking through prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with God as I understand Him, praying only for the knowledge of His will for me and the power to carry it out.

    12. I am having a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps and I am trying to carry these steps to others.

    The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
